A fine cricket bat cannot be mass-stamped on an automated assembly line. Wood is an organic material with distinct fiber density, moisture variability, and flex response. Our manufacturing process respects this individuality at each stage.
Every bat begins with the careful evaluation of raw willow clefts. Clefts are assessed for grain straightness, grain density (lines per inch), wood moisture levels, and absence of knots or blemishes.
Clefts are accurately cut and trimmed according to the intended bat size, whether senior short handle or specialty tape ball lengths. The top section is prepared for the splice joint.
Skilled artisans shape the spine, swell, toe profile, and edges using draw knives, wooden hand planes, and spoke shaves to achieve the desired balance, profile depth, and featherweight pick-up.
Handles are constructed from premium Singapore/Sarawak cane pieces laminated with shock-absorbing rubber or cork strips. This structure absorbs rebound shock and transmits feel back to the batsman.
A precise, tapered V-shaped splice is cut into the top of the willow blade. The matching cane handle is fitted with high-strength woodworking adhesives and clamped under high pressure to form a seamless union.
The entire bat undergoes progressive stages of sanding, transitioning from coarse grit to ultra-fine abrasive paper, eliminating sharp transitions and leaving an impeccably smooth timber surface.
The blade is hand-buffed and bone-rubbed using traditional hardwood or bone tools to compress outer fibers, enhancing rebound responsiveness. Protective wax or lacquer is applied to seal the grain.
Brand stickers, metallic foils, and 3D embossed decals are precisely applied. The handle is bound with high-tensile twine and fitted with a high-grip rubber sleeve in the client’s chosen color scheme.
Every bat is weighed on digital scales and evaluated for balance point, spine alignment, and handle stability. An acoustic ping test with an old leather cricket ball confirms rebound clarity across the sweet spot.
Bats are sleeved in moisture-resistant padded covers, packed with toe protection, and securely boxed in double-walled export cartons ready for domestic freight or international container shipping.
Before any cricket bat is approved for dispatch, it passes through multi-point checks:
